On January 5th, 2011, Lily was admitted to the Phoenix Children's Hospital because she was experiencing pain in her legs and back. A week later and after what felt like a million tests, scans and biopsies, we had a diagnosis: she has a soft tissue tumor called Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma. A PET scan revealed a small tumor in her foot that was not apparent from the outside; it was not until the cancer had already spread to her bone marrow that she experienced any symptoms. This came as a total shock to everyone as Lily has always been healthy, active and full of energy. We love our darling girl and her sweet, happy, loving spirit. This website is for friends and family to stay connected during this difficult time.

The hospital gave Lily a wig today.

At first she really wasn't into it. She never has been shy or embarassed about her bald head, so why would she need a wig? In fact, she keeps such a postive outlook, one of the first things she said when she started loosing her hair was, "Well, at least I have a nice round head!"

But I think she discovered how fun it can be to wear a wig, and we think it looks cute too :)

My little guy befriended a 14yr old girl in the hospital. She says her wig itches and moves, but sometimes it's nice to feel hair on her shoulders again. Looks like Lily might like it now and then as well. She is beautiful from the inside out, so it doesn't matter what is on top of her head. And we love her for who she is! You are amazing lily!
